I Found a Life Coach in a Box (and It Changed How I See My Work)
It was early. Too early.
My 16-year-old and I were en route to a volleyball tournament, running on little sleep, protein bars, and the promise of caffeine. We pulled into a local coffee shop for a morning jolt to keep us both going.
While waiting for our drinks, I wandered toward the small bookshelf in the café.
UNO cards. Puzzles. Crayons. Books.
All the cozy, nostalgic things you would expect in a neighborhood spot.
And then I saw it. “Life Coach in a Box: A Motivational Kit for Making the Most Out of Life.”
Even before caffeine, I was hooked.
So I opened it.
Inside were cards with questions across different areas of life: spirituality, work, relationships, finances, recreation, health. Each card offered a prompt. Something to reflect on. Something to consider. Something to challenge your current perspective.
And honestly? It was really cool.
For the super disciplined (or highly caffeinated), a life coach in a box is a clever idea.
Novel.
Thought-provoking.
Self-guided.
But also… a little lonely.
Because here is what I hear every day in my coaching sessions:
“It is just helpful to say this out loud.” That is the magic. When you voice a thought, a fear, or a dream to another person, something shifts. When someone reflects it back to you. When they ask a question from a different vantage point. When they hold space for what you have not yet named.
That is when the box cracks open.
Questions are powerful. But shared reflection is transformational. We do not grow in isolation. We grow in conversation. And while tools, prompts, and even AI can help us think, nothing replaces the energy of being seen, heard, and challenged by another human.
So yes, a life coach in a box is a fun concept. But real growth happens when you have the intentional conversation with someone else.
That is where clarity lives.
That is where courage grows.
That is where change begins.
That is where action is created.
If this resonated, I would love to start…well…a conversation.
This is exactly the work I do with leaders who are ready to reflect, realign, and move forward with intention.
